Welcome to Syloverse! Built by Ouraan, Syloverse is a unique and safe social media platform designed exclusively for children to connect, discuss books, share opinions, and explore diverse perspectives. Our mission is to create a nurturing digital environment where young minds can foster meaningful conversations, empathy, and understanding through literature.

 

Privacy Policy

At Ouraan, we are deeply committed to safeguarding your privacy. This Privacy Policy informs you about how your personal data and information (“Personal Data”) is collected, used, and protected by Ouraan. Personal Data means any information that identifies or relates to a particular individual and also includes information referred to as “personally identifiable information” or “personal information” under applicable data privacy laws, rules, or regulations (for example, name, address, email address, hobbies, etc.).

 

Personal Data of Children

The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”) requires that online service providers obtain parental consent before they knowingly collect personally identifiable information online from children under thirteen (13). We do not knowingly collect or solicit personally identifiable information from a child under thirteen (13) without obtaining verifiable consent from that child’s parent or guardian (“Parental Consent”), except for the limited amount of personally identifiable information we need to collect in order to obtain Parental Consent (“Necessary Information”). Until we receive Parental Consent, we only use Necessary Information for obtaining Parental Consent.

We obtain Parental Consent using methods approved under COPPA. For example, we obtain Parental Consent by requiring a child’s parent or guardian to use an online payment system and provide a verifiable email to purchase Services. Additionally, we require parents or guardians to review this Privacy Policy and provide Parental Consent  before registering their child for Syloverse.

If you are a child under thirteen (13), please do not attempt to send any Personal Data about yourself to us before we obtain Parental Consent. If you believe that a child under thirteen (13) has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us at contact@ouraan.com.

If you are a parent or guardian of a child under thirteen (13), you have the right to request that we allow you review, modify or delete your child’s Personal Data, or that we stop further collection of the child’s Personal Data. Sources of Personal Data

We collect Personal Data about you (including Personal Data from children under thirteen (13)) from you in a few different ways, for example when you provide such information directly to us, including during the signup process, or through posting your name, voice recordings, photos or videos of yourself, and when Personal Data is automatically connected in connection with your use of our Services:

 

  1. Account creation: When you join our Services, we collect information like your name, age, email address, billing address, shipping address, and birthday.
  2. Content creation: We collect information when you save or upload pictures, comments, or interact with other content on Syloverse, including information provided in your profile that may include your hobbies, and your preferred genres in books. 
  3. Communications: We collect the content of communications when you contact us for customer support.
  4. Third parties: We may also collect Personal Data from third parties, for example, we may use services of third party analytics service providers to analyze how you use and engage our Services, or third parties that may help us provide you with technical support or customer service.

Use of Personal Data

We are committed to providing a safe, advertisement-free platform to you, for meaningful and fun discussion relating to books. To do that, we use your information to to provide and improve your experience, including to:

  2. Review your activity and messages on our Services to identify spam or investigate suspicious behavior to keep our community safe.
  3. Improve our products and services offered, including testing, research, analysis, and product development.
  4. Conduct analytics and research on how often you use our Services.
  5. Communicate with you about the Services, including updates, announcements, and offers.
  6. Provide support and assistance for the Services, including responding to your inquiries.
  7. Comply with our legal or contractual obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our Terms and Conditions.

We keep your Personal Data, including Personal Data from children under thirteen (13), as long as we need it to provide Services to you, however we do not retain Personal Information from children under thirteen (13) longer than is reasonably necessary in order to fulfill the purpose it was disclosed. In some instances, we retain Personal Data for longer, if doing so is necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, or is otherwise permitted or required by applicable law, rule or regulation.

When we no longer need to retain or use your Personal Data, we will either remove it from our systems or depersonalize it so that we cannot use it to identify you.

 

Changes to our Privacy Policy

We may change this policy from time to time, and if we do we will post any changes to this page. If you continue to use our Services after those changes are in effect, the policy as amended applies to you. If the changes are significant, we will alert you to the changes by placing a notification on our website www.ouraan.com or by sending you an email.
